Here at Copford Sawmill we can supply you with Oak and Larch logs. As we are cutting, all of our waste is reused and turned into firewood. We don’t source “cord-wood” just recycle. This means our firewood has travelled less than 50 miles making them better for the environment and the fact we air dry them naturally means we are not using electric or other pollutants to dry them.   We are happy to sell our lags by builders bags but due to new go
vernment laws. We need to sell 2 cubic meters at a time. Or happy to sell in part as in one bag as long as you’re happy to purchase another bag later separately.    Below our the governments guidelines on buying wet logs.    “This wood is not suitable for burning until it has been dried. You should not burn wood until it has a moisture content of 20% or less. “Wet wood contains moisture which creates smoke and harmful particulates when burnt. As well as being harmful to your health and the environment, this can damage your stove and chimney and is an inefficient way to heat your home. Dry it in a sunny, well-aired space for at least two years, keeping rain off in the winter. “Radial cracks and bark that comes off easily suggests wood that is ready for burning. Test the wood when you think it is ready for burning, ideally with a moisture meter. First calibrate the meter and then measure a freshly split surface to get the best reading.”   If you’d like any advice or help please don’t hesitate to call us.
